The charger has a universal voltage so you can use it in French. However, it has the US prong that you will need a travel adapter to convert the pin to European style.

Does the light go off when battery is fully charged?

The charger LED light will stay green when powered. During charging, it shows red. When finish charging, it will go back to green again. The LED light will not go out.
