Super Bright 800 LUX Lighting

The HDV-Z96 is about 40% brighter than most other LED Panels available for a fraction of the cost. It delivers 5600K day light color balance LED output. The wide 16:9 form factor allows the HDV-Z96 to produce a wider, softer light spread without creating any hot spots.

The HDV-Z96 has an expandable link system where you can attach multiple units together using the included link brackets.

Posted by Dave on 8/11/2010 8:26:00 PM Taky. Would you please help us compare the Z96 here with the Pro160

Thanks

Replied by LA Color Pros Basically Pro160 gives higher lux output (900lux compared to 800lux). Z96 is a little bit more compact in size. Pro160 takes 5 types of batteries or AA batteries. Z96 takes only Sony L-series battery or AA batteries. The construction of Z96 is sturdier.
Posted by Dave on 8/11/2010 10:07:00 PM Thanks. And I think it the stringing together of multiple units may be unique to the Z96. Yes?

Are they the same manufacturer?

Replied by LA Color Pros Dave, they are made by different manufacturers.
Posted by Dave on 8/11/2010 10:09:00 PM Oh, and I see why you put up the cheesycam video. There's the nice comparison.

I'll get one. Thanks.
Posted by San on 8/12/2010 2:20:00 AM Hi, how does this light compare to the Comer 900 interms of picture quality?

Replied by LA Color Pros San, I would consider this light in the class of Pro 126/160. It is still 5600K color temperature which you will need to use the orange filter for sure when shooting indoor. Comer is 4500K. It is ready to be used indoor without any filter. The built and construction is more solid on the Comer. Z96 beats the Comer only with a full dimmer.
Posted by paul slabaugh on 8/12/2010 11:26:00 PM Is there less of a green look to this light? (as compared to the 160). Many of us find that spike in the green wavelength hard to deal with ... it's an odd hue for LED's. Such a green spike diminishes chances for good color rendering regardless of filtering. Full spectrum, thus color reflection, just isn't there.

ps... You have an unusual level of candidness and honesty and I trust doing business with you. I just don't like that 160's light quality...despite good brightness and coverage.
Posted by Laurie on 11/22/2010 9:36:00 PM Does the 96 come with a hotshoe mount for Nikon (D700)?

Replied by LA Color Pros Laurie, it comes with a standard accessory shoe mount. If your camera uses standard shoe size, then it will fit.

Replied by LA Color Pros HDV-Z96 does not have the green spike as in the Pro126 and Pro160 light. However, they are both inexpensive lighting options. For better color rendering and post color space processing, you should consider professional LED lights.

Posted by Dan Roujansky on 5/20/2012 10:15:00 PM Can someone please tell me if there is any difference between the Z96 & HDV-Z96 LED Camera lights. They appear to be the same. I will ultimately be creating strip and panel lights with more than one.
Thanks
Dan

Replied by LA Color Pros If the manufacturer is F&V, then Z96 and HDV-Z96 are the same light.
Posted by Dan Roujansky on 5/20/2012 10:42:00 PM In comparing the Z96 & HDV-Z96, the Z96 (which comes with battery, case, recharger and light) is made by Vidpro while HDV-Z96 could be F&V. Could they be the same manufacturer by another name? Is there a difference in manufacturers for this unit and which one should I look to buy for the best quality?

Replied by LA Color Pros From the outside, it looks they rebadge and bundle it with a carrying case, battery and charger in it.

Our NP-F570 (2 hrs) battery is only $17 and NP-F770 (4 hrs) battery is $27. Charger is only $16.

HDV-Z96 is more an inexpensive consumer/amateur level product. If you are looking for best quality, you should consider our Comer 900 or Comer 1800 lights.
Posted by Dan Roujansky on 5/20/2012 11:06:00 PM Your prices for batteries are very good! Which manufacturer makes your HDV-Z96? Also, I noticed that the price was $106.00 while others are selling it for about $60.00. What is the best price you can offer for this unit?
Thanks for all your assistance.
Dan

Replied by LA Color Pros Our HDV-Z96 is the all manufactured by the original F&V.

We cannot compete with price on eBay as we offer 1 year domestic warranty.
